About the Role:
We are seeking a Data Transformation Analyst I – Well Logs to join our global subsurface operations team at S&P Global. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with well log data, contributing to the quality, accuracy, and value of our US Energy database. You’ll play a vital role in sourcing, analyzing, digitizing, and ensuring the integrity of exploration and production well log data.

About the Team:
Our Subsurface Operations Team is responsible for delivering high-quality regional formation tops studies, structural maps, pressure data, directional surveys, and well log analysis. The Well Logs Team focuses on digitization, log editing, petrophysical data analysis, and managing data accuracy for client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, analyze, digitize, and maintain well log data for the S&P Global US Energy database.
  • Perform well log identification, splicing, scoring, and ensure quality assurance of high-value well log curves for composite curve creation.
  • Carry out petrophysical processing, bad data editing, and depth alignment using tools like PowerLog and Kingdom (if experienced).
  • Address and resolve well log escalations by providing effective solutions.
  • Manage historical data entries and contribute to data improvement initiatives across regions, basins, or countries.
  • Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and currency from various sources.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve operational goals.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Petroleum Engineering, or Earth Science.
  • Solid understanding of petroleum geology and well logging concepts.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Prior exposure to or experience in the oil and gas industry.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with PowerLog or Kingdom software.
  • Interest in managing geological and petrophysical data.
  • Strong ability to interpret and format technical information for database entry.
  • Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Team-oriented with proactive problem-solving abilities.
