About the Role
At Tesco India, we are looking for passionate and innovative Data Scientists to join our Data Science team in Bengaluru. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex business challenges across domains such as physical stores, online retail, supply chain, marketing, Clubcard, IoT, pricing, security, fulfilment, distribution, property, and computer vision.

Our Data Scientists design, prototype, and deploy data products at scale, leveraging big data technologies like Hadoop and Spark. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy machine learning models and algorithms to solve business challenges across diverse areas.
• Apply, modify, and design mathematical models that drive scalable data solutions.
• Work on big data architectures to process and analyze large-scale datasets efficiently.
• Validate, document, and present modeling processes, ensuring transparency and clarity for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate across teams to promote data science initiatives internally and externally, contributing to the broader data science community.

Candidate Profile
We are seeking ambitious, analytical, and technically strong individuals with:

• Solid background in machine learning, data mining, and advanced algorithm development.
• Strong programming expertise, preferably in Python.
• Proven experience working with big data platforms such as Hadoop or Spark.
• A higher degree (Master’s/PhD) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or related fields.
• Deep understanding of mathematical and statistical principles applied to real-world problems.
• Experience in one or more of: predictive modelling, operational research, deep learning, or time series modelling.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
