We are seeking a passionate and skilled Back-End Developer to join IBM’s Fabric Development Team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-performance software applications that serve as the foundation for IBM Cloud’s scalable infrastructure. From architecting APIs to deploying systems that support global clients, your contributions will help power IBM’s leadership in the cloud domain.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable and efficient backend components for cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Develop object-oriented applications, primarily in PHP, using industry best practices from prototyping through full deployment.
• Create and maintain RESTful and SOAP web services with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Integrate third-party tools and open-source platforms into IBM’s cloud ecosystem.
• Collaborate with product management, UX, and cross-functional development teams to deliver impactful solutions.
• Write clean, modular, and maintainable code while adhering to IBM’s high engineering standards.
• Utilize Git for version control and ensure seamless code collaboration across global teams.
• Participate in debugging and optimizing C code for systems-level enhancements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database systems
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP)
• Experience developing and managing API interfaces
• Expertise in version control systems, preferably Git
• Competency in debugging and developing in C

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience with shell scripting
• Knowledge of Java and/or Python
• Strong PHP development background for backend systems
• Familiarity with non-relational data stores like ZooKeeper or Memcached
• Hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes
