What You'll Do (When You Join Us) As a Python Software Engineer, you will help build our next-generation index data platform and take ownership from problem definition through production support. Design & Build – Write production code, primarily in Python, across services, APIs, libraries, and command-line tools that are modular, well tested, and maintainable. – Create data models and integrations across Aurora PostgreSQL and object storage, with careful attention to schema design, evolution, and backwards compatibility. – Build software that processes data at scale on AWS using services such as Lambda, S3, containerised services, Glue, and EMR Serverless where appropriate.
Nice to Haves Helpful experience, but not a requirement: – Apache Spark, PySpark, or other large-scale distributed processing technologies. – Big-data workloads and datasets that do not fit on one machine. – Scala, Java, C++, Go, or Rust used for performance-sensitive or high-throughput software. – Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, similar open table formats, or lakehouse architecture. – CI/CD tooling such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions. – Infrastructure as code using Terraform or AWS CDK. – Data quality frameworks such as Great Expectations or Deequ. – Curiosity about financial markets, index data, or investment analytics.
